People at Laurier

Marek Wartak, Physics and Computer Science Marek Wartak was named Laurier’s University Research Professor for 2005–2006. He and his research group recently created the world’s first simulator of quantum well-based semiconductor lasers. Based on microscopic principles, this simulator is also able to simulate semiconductor nanostructures including quantum dots. Using this simulator to accurately model new optical communication devices shortens the design time for new products. Wartak is a key faculty member in Laurier's unique undergraduate Photonics program.
