People at Laurier

Peter Tiidus, Kinesiology and Physical Education A former competitive swimmer and triathlete, Peter Tiidus focuses his research on the physiology of muscle damage caused by exercise. He looks at how estrogen affects muscle damage, inflammation and repair, as well as its ability to stimulate muscle satellite cell activity, which helps muscles to repair damage and respond to exercise training. Tiidus also examines how massage and ultrasound influences post-exercise muscle recovery and looks at the effects of training regimens on fibromylagia sufferers.
